Is the CD going the way of the VCR and all the rest?!
According to recent reports iTunes has beat out Tower Records and Borders books on music sales, and for the past three months iTunes has consistently been in the top 10 sellers of music. We all know that iTunes has the strong hold on the sales of digital music, but I find it interesting they now have their grasp on all of music sales. While "Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Target, Amazon.com, FYE and Circuit City all scored higher than iTunes," I do wonder if those tallies take into account their digital sales as well (I'm assuming they must). If they do take into account their digital sales then it might be true, the CD is breathing its last breath, and we all better be prepared to get MP3 players installed in our cars/mobile homes/houses/boats/bikes/houseboats and any other location where we might want to be listening to music. Time to upgrade, again, and maybe this will be, finally, one of the last times?
