Summer Home Networking Tips!
Summer is finally here (thank goodness) which means more time for getting outside and taking family vacations. However, it also means the kids are home from school, spending more time online and exposing your network to who knows what! Plus - while you're out and about you want to be sure your wireless network is secure.
Here are a few tips to prevent your home network from falling by the wayside this summer!
- Make sure you have enabled the Network Magic Wireless Security Center to keep intruders out while you aren’t home. Please Note: This feature works with certain routers. More Info
- Use the Network Magic Health & Security Center to tell whether the PCs on your network are properly secured before you leave town.
- Learn how you can use Network Magic to create free network backup. Better to be safe than sorry!

All of these steps should allow you to maintain the internet connection between all your computers. It should just prevent "outsiders" from accessing your home network.

Have not had the time to try this, I have a wired hookup
between my computer and my wife's upstairs. I was wondering how this method will affect her being able to use the email, internet, through my computer?? I will try and set up time permitting.

I've found that when I go away on vacation simply turning off wireless ssid broadcast is a great deterent--it's a simple measure yet an effective one.
