Keep Your Home Office Online
Working from home is great; you don't have to commute through miles of traffic, you can wear whatever you want, and you can set your own schedule. One of the down sides of working from home is keeping your computers and Internet connection working. There's nothing more frustrating than computer downtime, and not knowing what's causing it. Is it your computer, your router, or is it your Internet Service Provider (ISP)? Or how about trying to share one printer with your wireless laptop and your desktop computer.
Wouldn't it be great to have an onsite computer geek to just "make it all work" so you can concentrate on your customers? Then install Network Magic on all of your computers and see how it can help keep your home office running smoothly:
• Set up printer and file sharing from any computer in your home. You can print from any computer, and move files from one computer to another without having to e-mail them back and forth.
• Get a notification if you lose your Internet connection, and troubleshoot and fix the problem.
• Keep your software investment up to date by alerting you when important software updates are available.
• Secure your home network with wireless security settings.
• Track any intruder that attempts to log on to your home network.
Let Network Magic help keep your home network up and running, so you can focus on your business.

Comments
Network Magic frequently reports "internet disconnected" followed in 5 to 15 minutes "internet connected". What is meant by these reports? Is my internet connection "going down"...is it interrupted? If it is it would explain why my file transfer are failing.
--------------------
There can be several reasons why your network can go down, and then suddenly come back up. If it's a wireless network, it could be caused by a weak signal, or there could be interference from other household items, such as cordless phones or even your microwave.
To help you find out what's happening, Pure Networks just released a new tool called Speed Meter Pro. It monitors your entire network and helps you detect and solve common issues with networks, such as yours, where the network connection comes and goes. It looks for common issues and provides easy-to-understand solutions. You don't have to spend time troubleshooting by yourself.
Download the free trial to see why your network connection is not reliable. You get it free for 7 days, plenty of time to figure out what's happending. You can download it from www.purenetworks.com/product/speedmeterpro

What is the nettwork attached storage support feature of the Pro version?
I find no info on your website.
Jan
--------------------
This means that Network Magic will discover and add any network attached storage devices to the Network Map. If a network attached storage device is on the network, it will be shown as another device. Before this last release, Network Magic wasn't able to add these to the Network Map and retrieve details about them. Now it can.

I am trying to share a USB drive on my wireless network. I have an up-to-date NM on each of my 3 computers. When I try to share the drive - I want to share the entire E: drive - I get the message "The selected folder cannot be shared. The directory name is invalid." Not sure if it is a factor, but the drive is large (1 terabyte) and has a lot of folders and files on it. How do I fix?

I used the free trial on my home computer and my laptop. It worked great. Purchased NM Premium and activated my home computer with no problem. Tried to activate my laptop without success. It keeps asking me for my License Key number. I type in the Key and it tells me the number is invalid. Apparently this is because I used it to activate my home computer. I need to know how to activate my laptop since I purchased a three unit license.
--------------------------
The first thing to check is that you have the same version of Network Magic on your home computer and your laptop. If you do, activiation should work just fine. You can activate your laptop from your home computer in the Network Map area. In the Nework Map on your home computer, click on your laptop's icon and from the Tasks box, select Activate. You use the same activation key for all of the computers in your network. If you are not able to do this, please contact our support team and they can fix this right away. You can reach them at www.networkmagic.com/support, or by phone at 888-812-9402.

I just installed the trial version. So far so good. Before I install on my other networked PC's I wanted to know if I install on the other PC's can I hide the program from my 2 curious kids? I was hoping NM would allow me to control there access to certain websites. Great product so far though.
----------------------
At this time, you can't hide the program from your kids. But, you can enable the Network Reports feature on their computer. You will receive a daily email report showing the Web sites visited, programs used, and the time of day the computer was in use. It doesn't block sites, but it does let you know what sites are visited.

Great Product! Pulled my hair out for 4 months trying to file share between a new Vista laptop and an old XP desktop. NM did it in a matter of minutes! I purchased Premium within a couple of days! One slight issue I am still trying to straighten out, though - the printer (connected to XP desktop via USB) won't share, even though NM says it's good to go for sharing. Can't print from the Vista laptop. Still, I think this product is great and will help me work this out! Thanks!

Thanks for the comments. Contact our technical support team to fix the problem with printing from your laptop. They can help you get it working. You can reach them at www.networkmagic.com/support.

I have a PC and two laptops networked. MY PC is connected to the internet via a 3G usb modem. I have installed NM successfully on the two laptops and connected to the internet but are unable to do so on the PC. It keeps telling me that I am not connected to the internet. Could you please shed some light.
Thank You

Hello. Help. I have a home wireless network using linkeys wrt54g. I have no problems with two pcs hooked up to. Im tring to get my Wii online. I took one of usb cards out of an older pc and put it in the wii. it finds my network without a problem. It is asking for a wep keep. yell at me know for not writting it down. I know how to find it thru the router but i dont have the correct password. I tried admin and password... I thought about just restting the modem but im afraid ill mess it up so none of the networ wors. Any good advice I i will pray for your sainthood.
Thankyou..... I guess i should have saved the manueal.... im also understanding that i should change from wep to something more secure. but Id like to start at the beginng. Thankyou in advance for any help you can provide me.
Thanks again Bobb
--------------------
If you have a Linksys WRT54g router, I found two different default usernames and passwords: One is a username of admin, and the password admin. The other is leave the username field blank, and the password is admin. Give both of those a try and see if you can log in.
If you're able to log in and want to change your wireless security, I would recommend using WPA security instead of WEP. Here is an article that gives an overview about setting up WPA security:

Hope this helps.

Hi, I really love your product. However, I've removed it from my system (Installed it twice and removed it twice). My system is fairly new. It's nimble and competent - running XP. But as soon as I install Network Magic: every new page, every new open, every new URL takes 90 seconds or more to open. It happens when NM is on my system, it doesn't happen when it's not on my system. Can't afford the time, but as I said - and I'm sincere - GREAT PRODUCT!

Fantastic! I'd previously had no trouble setting up a wireless network with two XP computers and one 98SE laptop. However... When I "upgraded" the laptop and one other computer to Vista the fun began. After beating my head against them off and on for three months I finally came across Network Magic and in 5 minutes had all the computers and printers seeing each other and sharing files. Incredible! I was so pleased that I immediately bought the premium edition. That was yesterday, and of course today I received an offer from Zone Alarm to buy it $10 cheaper. I guess you can't have your cake and eat it too.

I just upgraded my home network system to the "N" series from D-Link which has 5 computers on it. I have to say that your product is by far the best I have seen and will make keeping the software updates, etc a breeze. Nice product, works great.

You should consider updateing you download speed graph.
I have Comcast cable High Speed and when I do the connection speed test it is off of the graph because I get between 11Mbps and 13Mbps!
----------------------------------
Thanks for the suggestion - I'll pass it on.

Hello, I need to download and clean install the most recent Beta version of NM to eliminate a problem with connectivety/erratic behavior. Even though I am a paying "client" I prefer and have had better success over the years with Beata versions.

Download the latest released version from www. networkmagic.com/download. If you must have a Beta version, I'd contact our Technical Support group and see if they can help. You can contact them at www.networkmagic.com/support, or by phone at 888.812.9402.
